Bedford School - Late Bus Service Overview

 

Due to increasing operating costs and a reduction in students using the bus, we have had to make the difficult decision to reduce its frequency to two days a week.  Monday & Thursday.

 

The service will only operate up until the October half term and will not restart until after the February half term. As the evenings become darker during the winter months, we feel that it is less safe to operate during this period.

 

Early booking is advisable

 

The Late Bus Service is exclusively available for students from the following schools:

 

• Bedford Greenacre School

• Bedford Modern School (BMS)

• Bedford School (Boys)

• Bedford Girls' School

 

Please note that we do not accommodate students from any other schools. If you do not use Three Star Coaches for your regular school transport, you are still welcome to access our Late Bus Service.

Ticketing Information:

 

To utilise the Late Bus Service, you must go online and choose "Late Bus".  Pay for each day you want to use it.  You do not need to Message Colin anymore.  In addition in the Special needs " section please put the time your child's club finishes as this may help us to provide an earlier service,  If this is the case we will message you.

Service Guidelines:

 

Service Schedule: The Late Bus operates Monday & Thursday.

 

Registration: A register is maintained for all students utilising this service.

 

Student Safety: Please ensure your child is capable of waiting independently. It is highly recommended for students to carry a mobile phone for emergencies.  there will be no supervisors at Bedford School (Boys) or Bedford Girls' School.

 

Waiting for the Bus: Students should be prepared and on-site at the designated pick-up points. The bus will typically be a Three Star Coach.  However on occasions there could be a Company car for two passengers or less.  If the car is used a registration no. will be sent out with the drivers name.

 

Delays: Coaches may occasionally be delayed by 5-10 minutes, particularly when returning from sports fixtures with the Harpur Trust. Notifications will be communicated through the WhatsApp.

 

Driver Information: The driver for the Late Bus may be different from the regular school bus drivers and could be unfamiliar to students.

 

Booking and Cancellations: Repeated last-minute cancellations may result in exclusion from future bookings. Weekly service notifications will be shared via the WhatsApp group by Sunday evening. Same-day cancellations will result in the loss of your .
